(L.A.) Jorge Ramirez, 32, Died in Santa Clarita

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 32-year-old Latino male that occurred in a park.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Jorge Ramirez.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death: Acute Perforated Appendicitis

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday.

The decedent was a transient who expired off Iron Horse Trail in Valencia.

Media outlets initially reported he was 35 years old.

Valencia is a community within the city of Santa Clarita.

Iron Horse Trailhead is not a traditional park but rather a trailhead and outdoor recreation area in Valencia, Santa Clarita. It serves as an entry point to several popular hiking and biking trails, most notably the Iron Horse Trail and the Santa Clara River Trail.

CHP officers administered CPR on a homeless person in a remote, brush-filled area of Santa Clarita.

The incident began at around 8:15 p.m. when CHP officers were flagged down near the intersection of Magic Mountain Parkway and Tourney Road by someone reporting a medical emergency.

Officers followed the call for help to a heavily vegetated area near the Iron Horse Trailhead, just north of Magic Mountain Parkway and east of Interstate 5. There, they found an unresponsive person and immediately began CPR.

Despite continued resuscitation efforts, the person was declared dead by paramedics shortly after.
