(L.A.) Hope Youngblood, 49, Died on the 10 Fwy

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 49-year-old White/Caucasian individual that occurred on the Santa Monica Freeway in Palms.

The coroner’s office identified the person as Hope Youngblood.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Multiple Blunt-Force Traumatic Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday.

According to the California Highway Patrol, a homeless man, described as wearing a black shirt and blue shorts, was sitting on the center divider when he was hit and fatally injured by multiple vehicles at around 6:10 a.m.

Incident location: Eastbound Santa Monica (10) Freeway near the La Cienega Boulevard off-ramp in the Palms community of L.A.

The decedent apparently identified as a woman, and the Department of Medical Examiner has in recent years opted to list gender according to the decedents’ preference while still alive.
