(L.A.) Shauntrell Matthews Jr., 21, Died in South L.A.

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 21-year-old Black male that occurred at a business.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Shauntrell Matthews Jr of Gardena.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of Shoulder

RIP SHAUNTRELL MATTHEWS JR. (January 4, 1997 – May 19, 2018)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 10:38 p.m.

A gunman had driven up to two men at around 10:30 p.m. at Manchester Avenue and Cimarron Street near a car wash and fired shots. One victim died at the scene. Another was taken to a hospital where he died early next morning.

The attack was believed to be gang-related.
