Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 46-year-old male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Dan-Edward Pajarillo and listed his race/ethnicity as Latino [sic].

Cause of Death: Consequences of Diabetic End-Stage Renal Disease

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 11:47 p.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on February 28.

Diabetic ESRD is the final stage of diabetic nephropathy, where the kidneys are no longer able to support the body in a reasonably healthy state. This occurs when kidney function drops to 10-15%.

High blood sugar levels over time can damage the kidneys’ blood vessels and filtering units, leading to chronic kidney disease (CKD) that progresses to ESRD.
