(L.A.) Mary Marquez, 64, Died at a Homeless Shelter

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 64-year-old Hispanic female that occurred in a homeless shelter.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Mary Marquez.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effects of Fentanyl, Methamphetamine, and Phencyclidine

Other Significant Conditions: Diabetes Mellitus, Congestive Heart Failure, Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 2:12 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in mid-March, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.

The government investigator had initially given the decedent’s forename as Maryellen.
