(L.A.) Douglas Thomason, 68, Died From a Gas Leak

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 68-year-old Caucasian male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Douglas Thomason.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Carbon Monoxide Intoxication

Other Significant Condition: Atherosclerotic Heart Disease

RIP DOUGLAS THOMASON (March 10, 1949 – March 8, 2018)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 7:15 p.m.

The decedent was found lifeless inside his apartment in the old building at 920 South Hobart Boulevard in Koreatown. A few days earlier, another tenant in the same building had been found deceased, also from carbon monoxide poisoning.

LAFD personnel were on scene first to determine what had happened and later to brief the media.

The building was red-tagged, and all the residents — approximately 45 in number — were evacuated to Lafayette Park Gymnasium.
