(L.A.) Derrick Barrett, 55, Died From a Gas Leak

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 55-year-old Black male that occurred at his residence.
The coroner’s office has identified the man as Derrick Barrett.
Manner of Death: Accident
Cause of Death: Carbon Monoxide Intoxication
Other Significant Condition: Atherosclerotic Heart Disease

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 9:45 p.m.
The decedent was found lifeless inside his apartment in the old building at 920 South Hobart Boulevard in Koreatown. A few days later, another tenant in the same building was found deceased, also from carbon monoxide poisoning.
As of September 2021, the owner of “920 S Hobart Blvd Apts” is listed as HOBART PORTFOLIO LLC 4D DEVELOPMENT.
