Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 37-year-old Hispanic female.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Carolina Gonzalez.

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death: Autoimmune Hepatitis with Cirrhosis

Other Significant Condition: Thrombocytopenia

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 6:20 a.m.

Autoimmune hepatitis is a chronic liver disease characterized by the immune system mistakenly attacking liver cells, leading to inflammation and potential liver damage. When left untreated, AIH can progress to cirrhosis, a severe condition marked by permanent scarring of the liver tissue, which can result in liver failure and other serious complications.
