RIP CHEN CHEN FEI (December 22, 1976 – July 18, 2024)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 4:08 p.m.
The decedent was a Taiwanese woman who was fatally stabbed with a samurai sword in San Dimas.
Sheriff’s deputies had responded to the 300 block of South Huntington Avenue at around 3:30 p.m. for a fatal stabbing. Upon arrival, they found a blood trail and a woman suffering for multiple cuts and stab wounds. The victim brought deputies inside a house where they found another woman suffering from severe stab wounds. The woman found inside the home was pronounced dead at the scene; the first woman was taken to a hospital in unknown condition.
A samurai sword was recovered at the scene, and a third woman, uninjured, was also at the home.
The incident appears to have stemmed from an argument among three members of a family who are native speakers of Mandarin Chinese.
UPDATE: The suspect has been identified as 44-year-old Weichien Huang. The other victim, the one who survived, is the mother of the deceased.
Mainstream media outlets have reported that the suspect is female based off a video taken of a woman’s encounter with police. But according to the sheriff’s department, the suspect they booked for the crime is male. [Later, the sheriff updated the suspect’s gender to X (Non-binary).]
The other victim — the one who survived — is the mother of the deceased.
