(L.A.) Matrial Davis, 55, Died From Quetiapine

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 55-year-old Black female that occurred at her residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Matrial Davis.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Quetiapine Toxicity

Other Significant Condition: Hypertensive and Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

RIP MATRIAL DAVIS (August 17, 1968 – May 19, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 9:40 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on July 16, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive from the lab.

This is considered an accidental drug overdose.

Quetiapine is an antipsychotic medication used to treat certain mental/mood disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and sudden episodes of mania or depression associated with bipolar disorder. It can increase the risk of adverse cardiovascular events.
