(L.A.) Roman Cybriwsky, 77, Died on an Airplane

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 77-year-old Caucasian male that occurred on an airplane.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Roman Cydriwsky [sic].

Manner of Death: Natural

Cause of Death: Arteriosclerotic Cardiovascular Disease

RIP ROMAN ADRIAN CYBRIWSKY (September 8, 1945 – March 24, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 1:15 a.m.

The decedent was Ukrainian-American. He was born at a refugee camp in Austria at the end of World War II. When he was 4 years old, his family moved to the United States after being unable to return to Ukraine. He was a professor and author of books about Kiev.

Note that the L.A. County Medical Examiner misspelled his surname as Cydriwsky. Modern orthogaphy would render his family name as Zybryvskyi. Other spelling variations include: Cebriwsky, Cybriwski, Zybryvskyi, Tsibrivsky, Tsybryvskyi, Zhybryvskyi, Zhebryvskyi, Tsebryvskyi, and Zhebrevskyi. Роман Жебривский / Роман Жебрівський
