RIP RAYNOLDO LOZANO (July 14, 1990 – April 4, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 12:08 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on May 7, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive for the drugs.

The government investigator noted that the decedent was homeless.

Out of over 160,000 death records made public by the county’s medical examiner since 1999, carfentanil has only thrice been mentioned as a main cause of death. Carfentanil or carfentanyl, sold under the brand name Wildnil, is an extremely potent opioid analgesic used in veterinary medicine to anesthetize large animals such as elephants and rhinoceroses. It is typically administered in this context by tranquilizer dart. Humans have also used it as a recreational drug, typically by injection, insufflation, or inhalation.
