(L.A.) Benjamin Smithy, 23, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 23-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Benjamin Smithy.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Fentanyl Intoxication

RIP BENJAMIN SMITHY (November 9, 2000 – March 14, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 4:19 p.m.

The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on April 22, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive for the drug.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
