(L.A.) Diego Avila, 26, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 26-year-old Latino male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Diego Avila.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Alcohol Withdrawal Effects

Cause of Death B: Chronic Alcoholism

Other Significant Condition: Cocaine Effects

RIP DIEGO AVILA (November 5, 1997 – February 20, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 1:57 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on May 15.

Alcohol withdrawal is ruled an accident because the death results unintentionally from the physiological effects of abruptly stopping alcohol use, rather than from deliberate self-harm or natural disease alone.
