Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 42-year-old Latino male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Mario Lopez.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Sudden Cardiac Dysfunction

Cause of Death B: Borderline Cardiomegaly and Coronary Artery Disease

Other Significant Conditions: Effects of Cocaine, Diabetes Mellitus, History of Asthma

RIP MARIO LOPEZ (September 8, 1981 – October 2, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 5:00 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on December 13, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.

Note that there are multiple decedents named “Mario Lopez” in public records.
