The coroner’s office identified the man as Armin Amler.

Manner of Death: Suicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of Chest

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 9:09 p.m.

The decedent was of German descent. He was from Berlin.

He arrived in L.A. in 1979 as a freelance radio correspondent, later covering television as well.
