(L.A.) Emmery Muñoz, 14, Died in an Abandoned Building

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 14-year-old Hispanic female that occurred in an abandoned building.

The coroner’s office has identified the girl as Emmery Muñoz.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death A: Asphyxia

Cause of Death B: Neck Compression

RIP EMMERY MUÑOZ (March 5, 1991 – January 25, 2006)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday at 9:51 a.m.

The decedent left her home on January 20 and was found dead five days later at a loading dock in Boyle Heights.

As of 2025, that is, 19 years later, her murder is still unsolved.

She was a student at Bravo Medical Magnet High School.
