Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 57-year-old male that occurred in a rehabilitation / detox center.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Daniel Hightower and listed his race/ethnicity as Latin American.

Cause of Death: Effects of Fentanyl and Liver Disease

RIP DANIEL HIGHTOWER (October 10, 1965 – March 23, 2023)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 5:54 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in early August, presumably after the results of tox screening came back positive for the drug. This was deemed to have been an accidental overdose.
