RIP LESLIE VIGUERIAS BUSTOS ( July 4, 2026)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday night.

The decedent was injured in an explosion that happened during an Independence Day gathering in the 5600 block of D Street in Chino.

A large cache of fireworks — apparently located in the trunk of a vehicle — had unexpectedly ignited at around 8:30 p.m.

A 28-year-old Hesperia resident, Derion Tradon James Jr., was detained at the scene and booked on suspicion of involuntary manslaughter. Records indicate he was released after posting a $50,000 bail, and formal charges remain under review by the San Bernardino County District Attorney’s Office. The Chino Police Department and the Ontario Fire Department Bomb Squad are continuing their joint investigation into the incident.
