Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 56-year-old Hispanic female that occurred at a hotel.
The coroner’s office identified the woman as Jacqueline Casares.
STATUS: The decedent’s body is ready to be released. Ruling by the deputy medical examiner is deferred pending additional investigation.
Manner and cause of death will be added to this page when it becomes available.
If the DME has ordered toxicological screening, the next public update may take three to five months.

Long Beach Police are investigating a suspicious death after a woman was found unresponsive inside a hotel room at the Hyatt Centric in downtown Long Beach early Saturday morning.
At approximately 12:30 a.m. on June 20, 2026, Long Beach Fire Department personnel requested police assistance after responding to a medical emergency at the hotel located at 285 Bay Street.
According to information from the scene, firefighters were performing CPR on an unconscious woman who was in cardiac arrest. First responders also observed trauma to the woman’s head, prompting law enforcement to begin investigating the circumstances surrounding her death.
Long Beach Police officers responded and established a crime scene while detectives worked to determine whether the incident may be a homicide.
At around 2:20 a.m., investigators with the Los Angeles County Medical Examiner’s Office arrived at the hotel to assist with the investigation.
No suspect was located at the scene.
The incident occurred near the Pike entertainment district as large crowds were leaving the “Apocalypse: Zombieland” festival, leaving many attendees shocked by the police activity so close to the event.
The investigation remains active and ongoing.
