(L.A.) Martin Rodriguez, 54, Died at a Construction Site

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 54-year-old Latino male that occurred at a construction site in Long Beach.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Martin Rodriguez.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Mechanical Asphyxia

Cause of Death B: Falling Dirt Rubble

Other Significant Condition: Cardiac Left Ventricular Hypertrophy

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday evening.

The decedent’s body was trapped by soil and debris during a trench wall cave-in and he suffocated.

He was working at the Long Beach Rescue Mission Lydia House shelter for women and children in the 1400 block of Pacific Avenue, near 14th Street.

Note that there are multiple decedents named “Martin Rodriguez” in public records.
