The coroner’s office identified the woman as Melina Avanosian of Glendale and listed her race/ethnicity as Middle Eastern or North African [sic].

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday.
The decedent went by the name Melina Vanosian Shahverdi. She was shot dead by her husband, who then killed himself. This happened two days after the U.S./Israeli attack on the all-girls’ school in Iran, his home country.
