RIP BYRON NETTLES (March 20, 1966 – March 1, 2019)
Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday at 3:52 p.m.
The decedent was a supportive housing manager in downtown Pasadena.
He was stabbed by Telly R. Johnson outside the Euclid Villa Transition Housing complex on South Euclid Avenue.
Investigators allege the attack was motivated by jealousy over a perceived relationship between Nettles and Johnson’s longtime girlfriend.
Johnson was arrested by the end of the day, and yet almost seven years later, he is still in pretrial. As of February 2026, a jury trial has still not been set.
Throughout the entire time, Johnson has remained in custody, with his bail set at $2.2 million.
