(L.A.) Mehmet Oktay, 28, Died off a Cliff

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 28-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred off a cliff.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Mehmet Oktay.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Multiple Blunt-Force Injuries

Other Significant Condition: Recent Methylenedioxymethamphetamine (MDMA) Use

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday.

The decedent was Turkish. He had been reported missing on February 2.

He arrived in the United States after the 2023 earthquake in Türkiye. His hometown of Hatay was among the hardest hit areas and was catastrophically destroyed.

His friends are now raising funds to repatriate his body back to Turkey, where his mother still lives. He is predeceased by his father whose death anniversary is on February 2, a date around which Mehmet was known to disappear for a few days to have time alone.
