Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 39-year-old Latino male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Carlos Vela.

Cause of Death: Acute Acetaminophen Toxicity

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.

Acetaminophen, also known as paracetamol, is a non-opioid analgesic and antipyretic agent used to treat fever and mild to moderate pain. It is a widely available over-the-counter drug sold under various brand names, including Tylenol and Panadol.
