(L.A.) Cyrus Chady, 62, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 62-year-old Caucasian male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Cyrus Chady.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday at 6:28 p.m.

From 2018 to 2022, Cyrus Chady pursued a malicious prosecution lawsuit against Pedram Shamekh, PNP Precious Metals, and others, alleging they had wrongfully sued him in an earlier dispute involving the alleged purchase of seven kilograms of gold with bad checks. After years of motions, appeals, and discovery proceedings, the attorney defendants settled and were dismissed, but Shamekh and PNP repeatedly failed to comply with discovery obligations despite multiple court orders and monetary sanctions. On August 5, 2022, the court found a pattern of willful discovery abuse, struck their answers, entered their defaults, and awarded additional sanctions. Chady then submitted a default judgment prove-up, and after hearings on the matter, the court entered a default judgment against Shamekh and PNP on November 29, 2022, before trial.
