(L.A.) Alexander Arana, 17, Died in a Hospital

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 17-year-old Latino male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the teen as Alexander Arana.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blast Injuries of Chest

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Wednesday night.

The decedent was injured in a fireworks explosion in the Vermont Knolls neighborhood of South L.A., which happened at around 9:30 p.m. in the 400 block of West 84th Street.

Authorities believe the blast was caused by his handling of homemade or illegal pyrotechnic devices.
