(L.A.) Osman Chicas Cruz, 34, Died on a Sidewalk

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 34-year-old Latino male that occurred on a sidewalk.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Osman Chicas Cruz of Van Nuys.

Height: 5 feet 7 inches / Weight: 140 pounds

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Fentanyl and Methamphetamine Toxicity

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published in late January, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.

The decedent had a local arrest record going back a decade. LAPD picked him up at 4500 Van Nuys Boulevard in September for drugs and brass knuckles.
