(L.A.) Crystal Diaz Martinez, 39, Died on the 405 Freeway

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 39-year-old female that occurred on the freeway in the Palms community.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Crystal Diaz Martinez and listed her race/ethnicity as Black + Hispanic.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Multiple Blunt-Force Traumatic Injuries

RIP CRYSTAL DIAZ MARTINEZ (June 11, 1986 – August 31, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday morning.

The decedent was fatally injured in a multi-vehicle crash on the San Diego (405) Freeway.

California Highway Patrol said the incident happened at around 3:07 a.m. on the southbound freeway, just north of West Pico Boulevard.

Vehicles involved: 4-door dark-colored sedan; black SUV with major collision damage
