(L.A.) Robert Knight, 89, Died in a Front Yard

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 89-year-old male that occurred in a front yard.
The coroner’s office identified the man as Robert Knight and listed his race/ethnicity as Black + White/Caucasian.
Born in L.A. County. Mother’s maiden name is Williams.
Manner of Death: Homicide
Cause of Death: Multiple Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday.
LAPD said they responded at 1:10 p.m. to a call in the 2300 block of West 23rd Street, between Cimarron Street and Gramercy Place.
According to witnesses, Knight collapsed in front of a house after being attacked by 40-year-old Andrew Smith. The suspect then barricaded himself on the second floor, leading to a prolonged standoff with police that ended at 9:15 p.m.
