(L.A.) Harry Clay IV, 40, Died on a Street

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 40-year-old Black male that occurred on a street.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Harry Clay IV.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Cardiac Arrhythmia

Cause of Death B: Acute Diphenhydramine Toxicity

Other Significant Condition: Hypertension and Schizophrenia

RIP HARRY CLAY IV (July 1, 1985 – August 19, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on November 10, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.

Diphenhydramine, sold under the brand name Benadryl among others, is an antihistamine and sedative.
