(L.A.) Brandon Stennett, 36, Died in Westlake

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 36-year-old Black male that occurred on a street.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Brandon Stennett.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Gunshot Wound of Back

RIP BRANDON LEROY STENNETT (August 21, 1988 – August 5, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday.

The decedent was shot at around 3:00 a.m. near the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Westlake Avenue, just east of MacArthur Park.

He had an extensive rap sheet that included arrests for grand theft.

The Westlake district is east of downtown L.A. Police jurisdiction belongs to LAPD’s Rampart Division.

An investigation is underway into the shooting death of a victim in Westlake in the early morning hours of Tuesday.

Los Angeles Police Department Rampart Division units responded around 3 a.m. to the intersection of Wilshire Boulevard and Alvarado Street for reports of a shooting.

Upon arrival, officers located a male victim down in the road just east of the intersection. The Los Angeles Fire Department pronounced the victim deceased at the scene.

Witnesses reported seeing the suspect fleeing west toward the intersection.
