(L.A.) Victor Lemus, 40, Died in a Grenade Blast

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 40-year-old Latino male that occurred at a police department.
The coroner’s office identified the man as Victor Lemus. Born in L.A. County. Mother’s maiden name is Cuevas.

Cause of Death: Multiple Blast Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.
The decedent was one of three sheriff’s detectives who died in an explosion that happened at a Sheriff’s Department facility at around 7:30 a.m.

Lemus joined the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department in July 2003, as a Security Assistant. He completed the Deputy Sheriff Academy as a part of Class 339 in 2003 before he was assigned to Twin Towers Correctional Facility. Thereafter, he was transferred to Century Station. He then went to the Special Enforcement Bureau in 2017, where he was assigned as a K-9 Handler, before becoming an arson and explosive investigator last year.
He is survived by his wife Nancy and his daughters Alexis, Emily and Victoria.
