Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 39-year-old Hispanic female that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Jessica Mercado.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Acute Drug Intoxication (Methamphetamine)

Cause of Death B: Chronic Substance Abuse Disorder

Other Significant Conditions: Aspiration of Gastric Contents; Alcoholic (Laennec’S) Cirrhosis of Liver

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Sunday.

Laënnec cirrhosis is primarily caused by excessive and chronic alcohol consumption.
