(L.A.) James Vanpelt, 66, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 66-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as James Vanpelt.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Acute Methamphetamine Intoxication

RIP JAMES VANPELT (January 11, 1959 – June 10, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on July 20, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
