(L.A.) Marcos Peña Jr., 31, Died on the 110 Fwy

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 31-year-old Latino male that occurred on the 101 Freeway in North Hollywood.
The coroner’s office identified the man as Marcos Pena Jr.
Manner of Death: Accident
Cause of Death: Multiple Blunt-Force Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday.
The decedent was an off-duty L.A. County sheriff’s deputy who was fatally injured along with a female companion when they were both standing outside his vehicle, a black Kia compact SUV, which had stopped in traffic lanes for still-unknown reasons.
CHP and LAFD personnel arrived on the northbound 101 Freeway, north of Tujunga Avenue, at around 2:25 a.m.
Deputy Pena joined the Sheriff’s Department on July 14, 2022, and after completing the academy, Class #462, was assigned to Men’s Central Jail.
