(L.A.) Yesenia Guzman Avila, 44, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 44-year-old Hispanic female that occurred at her residence.

The coroner’s office identified the woman as Yesenia Guzman Avila.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death A: Combined Stab Wound of Chest

Cause of Death B: Neck Compression (Manual Strangulation)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Friday.

Use of “combined” suggests that a single stab wound injured multiple structures or organs in the chest (e.g., lung + heart, or lung + major blood vessel).

The decedent was stabbed by her boyfriend in the Jefferson Park neighborhood of South L.A.

Police say the stabbing happened at around 10:45 p.m. in the 1800 block of West Adams Boulevard between Dalton and Halldale avenues.

The suspect, 32 years of age, was arrested nearby shortly after.
