(L.A.) Rudolph Anthony Lopez, 68, Died in a Driveway

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 68-year-old Latino male that occurred in a driveway.
The coroner’s office has identified the individual as Rudolph Anthony Lopez.
Manner of Death: Homicide
Cause of Death: Gunshot Wounds of the Head

Homicide detectives of the Long Beach Police Department are investigating the murder of a male adult that occurred on May 29, 2025, in the 2000 block of East Harding Street.
At approximately 5:17 a.m., officers responded to a shots call. Upon arrival, officers located a male adult with gunshot wounds to the upper body. Officers rendered medical aid until being relieved by Long Beach Fire Department personnel who determined the victim deceased at the scene.
Homicide detectives responded to the scene and conducted their investigation. While detectives were conducting their investigation, officers were dispatched to the area of 49th Street and Del Amo Boulevard regarding a person experiencing a possible mental health crisis.
When officers arrived on scene, they contacted a male adult later identified as a Garrett Remillard, 24-year-old resident of Long Beach, who made statements connecting himself to the homicide. Through their investigation, detectives were able to determine Remillard as the suspect responsible for the shooting.
Remillard was arrested and transported to Long Beach Police Jail, where he was booked for murder. His bail was set at $2,000,000.
Through their preliminary investigation, detectives determined Remillard and the victim were known to each other. Homicide detectives are investigating the motive and circumstances leading up to the shooting.
