(L.A.) Honglei Chong, 46, Died at a Residence

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 46-year-old Asian male that occurred at his residence.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Honglei Chong.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Electrocution

RIP HONGLEI CHONG (October 29, 1978 – May 17, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 1:43 p.m.

The decedent was on the ground when a tree trimmer knocked down a power line.

LASD deputies responded to the property along Cliffside Drive near Grasswood Avenue.

The tree trimmer himself was not injured.

* Note that the government investigator had initially given the decedent’s name as Chong Honglei, first name Chong.
