(L.A.) Toby Johnson, 42, Died on a Beach

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 42-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred on a beach.

The coroner’s office identified the man as Toby Johnson.

Height: 5 feet 10 inches / Weight: 180 pounds

Brown hair / Brown eyes

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effects of Methamphetamine

RIP TOBY JOHNSON (July 26, 1982 – May 6, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 3:09 a.m.

The decedent had been arrested by LASD’s Marina Del Rey Station Patrol on January 24 for misdemeanor burglary. He was released on his own recognizance with a court date of April 29.

LAPD said a man was found dead early Tuesday morning on the sand near the Venice Beach skate park.

It was at around 2:58 a.m. that officers responded to a 911 call about a body near Ocean Front Walk and 18th Avenue.
