(L.A.) Matthew Olson, 18, Died on the 110 Freeway

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 18-year-old Caucasian male that occurred on a freeway.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Matthew Olson of Newport Beach.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Blunt-Force Traumatic Injuries

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Saturday at 2:58 a.m.

The decedent was fatally hit by at least one vehicle as he was running in the Express Lanes of the Harbor (110) Freeway in South L.A.

California Highway Patrol said a report of “a man down” came at 2:45 a.m. on the southbound Harbor Freeway at Martin Luther King Boulevard.

Investigators are working to determine how the man got into the HOV lanes since there was no indication of a car nearby.
