(L.A.) Cuauhtemoc Garcia Zuniga, 66, Died at Coyote Creek

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 66-year-old Latino male that occurred in Cerritos.
The coroner’s office identified the man as Cuauhtemoc Garcia Zuniga.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 12:52 p.m.
The decedent was exiting his vehicle at around 12:30 p.m. to take a walk along the Coyote Creek Bike Path, behind 13121 Briarwood Street, near Don Knabe Park, when two individuals tried to steal his car. When he refused to hand over his car keys, they shot him.
On March 10, police arrested two Korean siblings for the crime: John Chong-Uk Moon (54) and Cindy Kim (58), who were living in a Toyota Prius.
Cuauhtemoc is a distinctly Nahuatl / Mexican name.
Coyote Creek separates Los Angeles County and Orange County.
The Coyote Creek bikeway is a Class 1 bike path that runs adjacent to the Coyote Creek flood control channel for approximately 9.5 miles. The path begins in Santa Fe Springs on the north fork of the Coyote Creek and extends south into Long Beach where it joins the San Gabriel River bicycle path at the trail bridge just South of Willow Street/Katella Avenue.
