(L.A.) Leon Merritt, 68, Died From a Polydrug OD

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 68-year-old Black male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office has identified the man as Leon Merritt.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Multiple Drug Toxicity

RIP LEON MERRITT (June 11, 1956 – January 28, 2025)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 9:26 p.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on February 26, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
