(L.A.) Daniel Magana, 23, Died at Men’s Central Jail

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 23-year-old Latino male that occurred at a prison/correctional facility in downtown L.A.
The coroner’s office identified the young man as Daniel Magana.

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 9:24 p.m.
Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on March 19, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
The decedent had been arrested for a felony by Pomona PD in July 2020 when he was 19 years old. At the time, he stood 6 feet 2 inches tall and weighed 220 pounds. The charges had to do with firearms and controlled substances.
He was found lifeless inside his cell at MCJ, which is located at 441 Bauchet Street, Los Angeles, CA 90012.
This is LASD’s 2nd in-custody death for the year.
