Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a Black male that occurred at Antelope Valley Medical Center

The coroner’s office identified the infant boy as June Counts.

Manner of Death: Undetermined

Cause of Death: Sudden Unexpected Infant Death

Other Significant Conditions: Carnitine Palmitoyltransferase II Deficiency, Unsafe Sleeping Conditions

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 8:32 a.m.

The child was not even two weeks old.

Antelope Valley Medical Center is the only full-service, acute-care hospital in the Antelope Valley.
