Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 65-year-old Caucasian male that occurred in Palmdale

The coroner’s office has identified the man as John Donahue, resident of East Avenue R-13.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death A: Ketosis

Cause of Death B: Chronic Alcoholism

Other Significant Conditions: Chronic Obstructive Lung Disease; Stroke; Acute Alcohol Effects; Hypertension

The decedent drank too much in one go.

Alcoholic ketoacidosis (AKA) is a fatal complication in chronic alcoholics and can lead to sudden, unexpected death. AKA is a metabolic complication that occurs typically after a period of heavy drinking followed by reduced food intake and vomiting.

These alcohol deaths can be classified as accidents under the assumption that the sots didn’t intend to kill themselves.
