(L.A.) David O’Brien, 74, Died From Substance Abuse

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 74-year-old White/Caucasian male that occurred in a hospital.

The coroner’s office identified the man as David O’Brien.

Manner of Death: Accident

Cause of Death: Effects of Methamphetamine

Other Significant Conditions: History of Atrial Fibrillation, Chronic Ethanol Use

RIP DAVID O’BRIEN (August 9, 1949 – July 8, 2024)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Monday at 4:34 a.m.

Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on December 16, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab.

This is considered an accidental, i.e., unintentional, drug overdose.
