(L.A.) Darius Morris, 33, Died From Drugs & Alcohol

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of a 33-year-old Black male that occurred at a private residence.
The coroner’s office has identified the man as Darius Morris.
Manner of Death: Accident
Cause of Death: Coronary Artery Atherosclerosis
Other Significant Conditions: Effects of Cocaine, Hydrocodone, and Ethanol

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Thursday at 10:43 a.m.
Ruling by the deputy medical examiner was published on June 14, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back from the lab. This is considered an accidental drug overdose.
The decedent was a former NBA point guard who played for the Los Angeles Lakers and other teams.
Cocaine use, especially coupled with hydrocodone and alcohol, significantly increases the risk of both myocardial infarction (heart attack) and cardiac arrest.
Acute coronary syndrome encompasses both myocardial infarctions (heart attacks) and cardiac arrests.
