The Department of Medical Examiner publicly disclosed the CoD ruling on July 26, presumably after the results of tox screening had come back positive for the drug.
Fluorofentanyl is a man-made drug that belongs to a group of powerful painkillers called opioids. It is similar to fentanyl, which is already known for being very strong and can be dangerous. Because it is a synthetic version, it is created in a lab rather than being made from natural sources like some other drugs. This similarity to fentanyl makes it very potent, meaning even a small amount can have a strong effect on the body.
