(L.A.) Tierra Stansberry, 18, Died in an Abandoned Building

Los Angeles County is reporting the death of an 18-year-old Caucasian female that occurred in an abandoned building in the Westalke district.

The coroner’s office has identified the woman as Tierra Stansberry.

Manner of Death: Homicide

Cause of Death: Carbon Monoxide Toxicity, Smoke Inhalation, and Thermal Injuries

RIP TIERRA STANSBERRY (August 11, 1997 – June 14, 2016)

Formal pronouncement of death was made on Tuesday at 2:25 p.m.

The decedent was oen of five homeless people who died in a fire set by an illegal immigrant from Honduras.

She had traveled more than 1,700 miles on a bus with her boyfriend, Joseph Proenneke, to Los Angeles. He also died in the fire.

Incident location: 2411 W 8th Street, Los Angeles, CA 90057

The building seemed to be Korean-owned. It was located just east of Koreatown proper.
